Barcelona: Supplementary Activities
In addition to language study, homestay involvement, outdoor activities, and travel experiences, there are numerous activities for sojourners in Barcelona—concerts, lectures and exhibitions. Sojourners enjoy the conviviality of the cafés and tapas bars, strolling along La Rambla, the buzz of the old port, the excitement of local sporting events, the pastry shops, and local festivals, including Carnival and its lavish celebrations.Intermittently there are cooking classes and wine tastings. Of course, there are movie theaters in Barcelona, with American films... in Spanish.
At the conveniently located Barcelona Sojourn's Centro, there are numerous ongoing activities: cooking classes, weekly communal luncheons, a Spanish film series, and a mid-week journal workshop. Participants are encouraged to keep journals, and those who do are helped to become more competent writers. Private lessons are arranged for serious musicians and artists.
Barcelona has an enthusiastic professional sporting milieu. Futbol Club Barcelona plays at the stadium, Camp Nou, which has the greatest seating capacity in Europe.
