Paris: Supplementary Activities
In some ways, Paris is its cafés and brasseries. Naturally, participants enjoy lingering there, especially in the cool and quaint Marais. They also enjoy the excitement of local sporting events, the pâtisseries, the city at night, artfully illuminated like no other. And the varied French festivals, such as Bastille Day, the finale of the Tour de France, the arrival of new Beaujolais, the Fête de la Musique, and, of course, April in Paris.. Intermittently there are cooking classes and wine and cheese tastings. There are movie theaters all over Paris, with American films... in French.
At the conveniently located Paris Sojourn's Centre, there are numerous ongoing activities: cooking classes, weekly communal luncheons, a classic French film series, and a mid-week journal workshop. Participants are encouraged to keep journals, and those who do are helped to become more competent writers. Private lessons are arranged for serious musicians and artists.
Paris has an enthusiastic professional sporting milieu. France's soccer team is usually, at the least, a World Cup finalist.
Public venues for sports are scattered throughout the city. In all, plenty of opportunities for recreation.
