Program: Journaling

As participants settle into daily life, they are encouraged to reflect on their observations and interactions with others. Students record these reflections in journals, both as an ongoing record of their sojourn and as a way to become more proficient writers.
A central feature of the program is the opportunity to have one's writing critiqued by the site director. Some journal-keepers who enjoy drawing, will find that interweaving words and illustration can create a colorful and even more memorable fabric.
There is much to write about. Those who wish to work on their writing can make significant progress in their skills.
"We learn what we think by recording our thoughts. Writing clarifies and crystalizes thought. Thus, sojourners are urged to keep journals, and we are relentless in our efforts to provoke in them fresh and oblique thoughts."
