Getting to Siena:

Participants are responsible for making their own travel plans, but rendezvous with the site director at the Florence airport. From there, they are taken to Siena and a charming hotel in the city centre where they spend the first two nights of orientation before being introduced to their host families.
From Florence
A "Citi Bus" leaves from the front of the Florence Airport and 20 minutes later arrives at the bus station in Florence, its last stop. (Incidentally, the bus station is a two minute walk from the train station. The train to Siena takes 1.5 hours.) Intercity buses depart frequently from the bus station for Siena, an hour and fifteen minute trip.
From Pisa
The train station is next door to the Pisa airport, just a few steps from the airport exit. Travelers from Pisa to Siena change trains at Empoli. The entire trip takes c. 2 hours.
From Rome
At Fiumicino Airport in Rome, there is a frequent non-stop train to Rome Termini. The train from Rome Termini to Siena is a 2.5 hour trip.
Participants who arrive elsewhere than the Florence airport rendezvous are met at the quaint hotel in Siena where they will spend the first two nights.
